Today celebrating the guru ravidas jayanti 2024
Ravidas Jayanti celebrates the birthday of Guru Ravidas, a prominent figure in the Bhakti movement and a renowned saint of the North Indian Sant tradition. He lived during the 15th to 16th century CE .
Guru Ravidas was a poet-saint, social reformer, and spiritual figure, whose devotional songs and verses made a significant impact on the Bhakti movement. He emphasized equality, social justice, and God's love that transcends the boundaries of caste and creed.
Ravidas Jayanti is observed on Magh Purnima, the full moon day in the month of Magh according to the Hindu lunar calendar, which typically falls in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. On this day, followers and devotees celebrate his life, teachings, and contributions by reading his poetry, singing bhajans (devotional songs), and participating in processions. 
Special prayers and aartis are also conducted in temples dedicated to Guru Ravidas. It is a significant day, especially for the Ravidassia community, who regard him as their spiritual guru.
